Kaliningrad city is non-standard for Russia. Kaliningrad became Kaliningrad, instead of Kyonigsberg after the Second World war. It is the city with tremendous and rich history. But it not the history of Kaliningrad. There is no carriers and successors of this history. An overwhelming part of the population of Kaliningrad are immigrants from Bryansk distroyed settlements. Accordingly, here it is not necessary to speak about the traditional way of life, traditional cuisine and other distinctive properties inherent in every region, developing centuries.

Unique communication with the past in Kaliningrad could be architecture, but, however it sounds paradoxical, it is practically destroyed «owing to» allies of Soviet Union in the Second World. Allies had no chances to get hold of city, or even to leave under its control, so they have destroyed by bombing Kyonigsberg practically completely. Here have dropped bombs almost more, than to Berlin.
Today's Kaliningrad has strategic value for Russia. Completely cut off from Russia overland, Kaliningrad is in very interesting strategic affinity to the largest European cities. Therefore, Kaliningrad-Kyonigsberg continues to follow the applicability of a fortress and an advanced post. Even if today fortifications and towers are not the protection of the city and fortress, but submarines and other achievements of modern military technics.

The city very actively develops and plays not last role in tourism. The reason for that are two facts. The first mentioned above is affinity to the serious European cities and it's easy to pass to Kaliningrad on own car for tourists. The second reason is a heritage. The descendants of once moved Germans long here.
The affinity to the major European cities has also the third important consequence for Kaliningrad — Russian business aspires to open here the representations, it is more convenient to cooperate with the Europe from here.
